During Japan’s surrender at the end of World War II, numerous swords were confiscated by American officers. In order to better understand the past and build a bridge between cultures in the present, a filmmaker attempts to return one of these surrendered swords to its original owner.

Brad Bennett, Director
Beginning his career documenting professional surf culture across the world, Brad focused on cinematography and video journalism until he began his own production company in 2004. Shaking Hands Productions, located in Virginia, has worked with many notable non-profit organizations such as Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello, and No Kid Hungry. Bennett’s documentary short, “The Engraver”, screened at the 2017 Wales International Documentary Film Festival and was nominated as Best Documentary by Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest in 2016.
